Our Mission
Built for People Who Still Stand for Something
These Colors Don't Run started with a simple observation: there's an enormous community of Americans who love this country deeply, who honor the people who served it, and who live by a set of values — reliability, hard work, integrity, pride in craft — that don't get much coverage in most media. We built this site for them.
We're not a political site. We don't traffic in outrage or division. What we cover is the America that exists when the cameras aren't rolling — the veteran finishing his first marathon, the craftsman keeping a dying trade alive, the small town that still puts on a proper Fourth of July parade. The people and places and traditions that make this country what it actually is, not what the loudest voices on either side claim it to be.
"We believe that patriotism isn't a bumper sticker. It's a practice — something you do every day in the way you treat people, the standards you hold yourself to, and the community you show up for."
What We Cover
Our coverage falls into a few core areas. Veteran stories are the heart of what we do — first-person accounts and reported pieces about the men and women who served, the challenges they face coming home, and the extraordinary things they go on to accomplish. These stories deserve to be told with the same care and craft as any other human experience.
We also cover patriotic gear and American-made products honestly — real reviews from people who actually use the things they write about. If it doesn't hold up, we'll say so. We have no interest in being a catalog with editorial packaging.
The Americana lifestyle section covers the broader culture: holidays done right, traditions worth keeping, history worth knowing, and the small-town values that don't make it onto most platforms because they're not controversial enough to generate clicks.
Our Values
Honesty
We write what we actually think. Our gear reviews are real. Our stories are reported. We don't publish what we don't believe.
Respect
Especially for those who served. Their stories are told with the depth and care they deserve — not as props or talking points.
Community
We're building something for a specific audience. If you've found us, you're probably the kind of person we had in mind when we started.
Quality
Long-form over clickbait. Reporting over hot takes. We'd rather publish one thing worth reading than ten things worth skipping.
Get in Touch
If you have a veteran story to share, a product you think we should review, or just want to say hello, we'd love to hear from you. Reach us through the contact page.
